Strand versinkt in schwarzem, stinkenden Wasser und Abfällen

Phuket - Behörden auf Phuket hatten keine Erklärung zu dem schwarzen stinkendem Wasser und den Abfällen, die den Strand in Karon bedeckten. Diese offensichtlichen dramatischen Zeichen der Umweltzerstörung an den Ufern der Inselprovinz traten auf, als Gouverneur Maitree Inthusut mit Beamten der Tourismusämter eine Reise nach Macao antrat.



Donetella und Paolo waren enttäuscht als sie den Strand sahen. Beide Touristen hatten wahrscheinlich einen Urlaub aus einer Broschüre mit unberührten Stränden in Karon gebucht. Die tatsächlichen Fotografien zeigen aber die Wirklichkeit. Eine bestätigende Antwort von Phukets Gouverneur hätte gelautet, dass das Wasser übel riecht und giftig sei....(Wochenblitz)

Tauchschulen lassen sich nicht einschüchtern

Phuket - Mitarbeiter von drei Tauchschulen erzählten der Presse gegenüber, dass sie Anrufe von einem Polizisten aus Chalong erhalten hätten und sie darum gebeten wurden nichts von ihren erpresserischen Zahlungsforderungen zu verraten.
Diese Person behauptete, dass die Bestechungsgelder von bis zu 20.000 Baht nicht mehr gezahlt werden müssten, wenn sie die Anti-Korruptions-Kommission (PACC) nicht einschalten würden....(Wochenblitz)

Kidnapper steht auf russischer Fahndungsliste

Terroristen oder Flüchtlinge?

Songkhla - Die Behauptungen, dass die vor kurzem in Thailand entdeckten Flüchtlinge türkischer Herkunft „Terroristen“ sein sollen, stammen von einer englischsprachigen Zeitung, die sich auf eine Polizeiquelle berief.

Schwangere Frauen und Kleinkinder überwiegen die Männer unter den bisher drei illegal eingewanderten Gruppen, die in der südlichen Provinz Songkhla aufgefunden wurden. Insgesamt sind es jetzt 410 Menschen.
Die in New York ansässige unabhängige Organisation Human Rights Watch hat diese Behauptung natürlich in Frage gestellt. Phil Robertson, stellvertretender Direktor der asiatischen Niederlassung von Human Rights Watch, sagte dazu, dass die in Frage kommenden Flüchtlinge eine signifikante Zahl von Kindern ausmache und mehr als nur ein paar schwangere Frauen unter ihnen sind. „So fragt man sich, wie eine unbenannte Polizeiquelle plötzlich von Terroristen redet?“.......(Wochenblitz)

Hahnenkampf vereitelt

Phuket - Polizeibeamte haben am Sonntagnachmittag einen Hahnenkampf in der Nähe des Kondominiums Phumundra in Koh Kaew vereiteln können. Zuvor hatten die Beamten Berichte erhalten, dass die Leute auf Kampfhähne Wetten abschlossen.
